K5 Knock and Squeak

I have a 6.2 K5 Civilian and it has a bad knock and squeak, and it pours out black smoke now. I was driving it on the freeway and it revved out before it shifted into 3rd (has a TH350) and started to quietly knock for a good 3 miles before it started pounding and died.

It will start and drive, feels like a little power loss but I cant figure it out. Any ideas?

Time to remove the pan and have a look at the bearings me thinks, sounds like motor time....

Does it still knock and pound? Most of the time a knock/pounding noise is NOT good. Could be something like torque converter bolts or something in that area but most of the time it is internal. The loss of power/heavy smoke probably means you have a dead cylinder. If you really don't want to pull the pan, you can do a compression test on each hole and see what comes up.

Alright, I don't have anything to test the compression at home but I'm gonna pull the pan off later and see how it looks. The trucks an 82, It says it has 90k on the odo but I dont know how many times its rolled over.

The truck was all good except for the th350 that wouldnt let me go past 65 without going past the redline.
