Need some opinions about a purchase

I have a chance to buy a 96 chevy 3/4 ton hd 4x4 silverado excelent interior 6.5 ext cab 91,000 miles excelent body and paint <minus the rear end > they told me the engine smoked <unknown color smoke.> the turbo has oil on it and in it. trans fluid looks like new. coolant looked ok no water in oil i can buy it for $2,300 is it a good deal ?? your input will be very appreciated thanks walt

I know it can't be driven but can you start it and make sure other things are working?

More details about when it smoked, start up vs constant vs loaded, would be good.

The oil in the turbo could be oil vapor that comes with the recycled gasses from the crankcase.

Whether it is worth it will eventually come down to how much work you can and are willing to do or are willing to pay to be done.
