Does anyone know if the pitman arm on my 2003 2500hd is a 3 or 4 spline, or did they come either way? Anyway to tell which it has. Thank you

I think you can look at the end of it (maybe need a mirror and light to see it), and tell. I replaced my steering gear and pitman arm last Summer. Got it on-line from D-Max.comm, but you might want to talk to John Kennedy. I hadn't thought about him, till after I got mine. Anyway, it never hurts to call John. In fact, when he see's your post, he'll probably jump in here with the right way to tell the spline count.
Good luck.
I'm not sure what the 3 vs 4 deal is. Maybe that's the number of "blanks" that indexes the arm? That or how many splines are used per blank? As I recall, I think there are 3 notches to align but I'd have to step out to the shop and see for sure.
At any rate, what I can say for sure is that the ones that we stock are the correct ones and I have never had an issue with fitment nor have I ever asked a customer 3 vs 4. I would also highly recommend the Pitman/idler supports be added. They tighten up the front end tremendously and keep it that way by easing the thrust load on the joints. Also use a high quality EP moly grease.
There are 3 sets of wide indexing splines on the arms that we stock.
