hard start

I have 97 it takes alot of cranking to start cold or hot. It also does not have cruise and loss of powercodes 0251

P0251 is triggered by the Optic Sensor in the Injection Pump. Code can be caused by dirty fuel or the sensor itself is bad.

Before attacking the sensor, i would run fuel out of the T fitting into a clear container. Check to make sure fuel is clean, no water, etc. Then put in a new fuel filter. Add Howes or Diesel Kleen to the fuel. Bleed air out of the system.
