Flow of firewall mounted square fuel filter

Can anyone tell me the flow direction of fuel of the firewall mounted square fuel filter on my '85 Blazer. Which is in, which is out to pump and where does the hose on the bottom go to? I've put a 6.5 in, which has the round filter on the intake rear and I've decided to keep the square one on seeing as it's already there and more filtering can't hurt.

The aluminum base on that filter assy should be labeled with cast-in letters IN, OUT and Drain. You may need to remove the filter element to see the labels.
