oil filter?

Can anyone tell me what oil filter I need? I have a 6.2 N/A in my boat, I don't know the exact age but was told it was early nineties
Before it went in the boat a friend sprayed it (and the oil filter) so I cant see any numbers on it, anyone know a fram part number

If you have a few extra inches of clearance under the filter, Wix 51794/NAPA 1794 would be my choice because it lets you put in about an extra quart of oil. Baldwin B7 is another one.

My 83 6.2 C-30 calls out a Fram TG5.

True, and every remote adapter I've seen, except for the 4.3l V6, used Wix 51515 filters. It's definitely a possibility.

Got the old one off and could make out the numbers, its a Fram PH 13
Whats so bad about the Fram filters?

They are known for not filtering very well.... I like the Baldwin's myself..

That's the standard GM filter, it crosses to both Wix 51060 and 51061. IIRC the former is meant for vertical mounting and doesn't have an anti-drainback valve, the latter mounts horizontally and does have the valve. If you have room I'd definitely run 51794, an extra quart of oil never hurts a 6.2l.
