The 1984 GMC C/K Brochure (http://www.thedieselpage.com/article/1984brochurec.htm)
The 1984 model year was a good one for General Motors despite the upheaval in the petroleum industry and a doubling of diesel fuel prices in the late 1970s and early 1980s. By 1984, the new 6.2L V-8 diesel engine had already been available for two full years, and reports were generally favorable. Buyers who needed a full-size pickup truck jumped at the opportunity to buy a GM model that offered twice the fuel economy of the carbureted gas 305 V-8. To see how it all began, let's have a look at a vintage 1984 GMC C/K Pickup brochure that illustrates what the General was offering new truck buyers back in the day.

Thanks for the article Jim! I'm still a fan of the old body style trucks and the 6.2L engines. I still get a thrill from listening to a 6.2L startup and drive away.

I see fewer and fewer of them on the road these days, though.

Thanx, Jim. I should print this out, in color, in case I ever want to sell my '84 short bed. Interested, Casey? ;)

Ahhhhh yessssssssssssss, the good old days.

I would slog 10 miles through a gator filled swap in a hurricane to get a brand new one of these rigs.

A time when life was (in my opinion) a lot better.

Thanks Jim for the trip down memory lane. :):):):):) definitely 5 smiles.

Missy sits working on getting the "Time Tunnel" dialed in, and aimed at the Chevy store circa 1991 and a brand new K5 Blazer with a 6.2 :D

My kingdom for a new old stock K5 diesel

Sorry, Casey. I have been using her for commuting to and from work the past few days, and she is just too sweet to ever let go. You know what I mean ;) .
