4wd actuator

Just tried to remove the 4wd thermal actuator on a 94 3500 - the blasted thing broke off just where the threads begin, inside the axle housing. Looks as if it had been cracked for awhile. Any ideas on how to remove the remainder, short of pulling the axle housing?
