Howdy
Adding a tachometer to my M1009 blazer 6.2. Wondering if anyone has any opinion or information about what is out there. Seems to be two options....Isspro or autometer. The Isspro uses a magnetic pickup and the Auto uses a an alternator pickup....
Any information....?Other options....?
Thanks!!!

I have the isspro,8 yrs no problem.I mounted mine in a pod on my steering column just above the blinker stick.Dosn't cover any other gauges or shifter.
I was wondering if the magnets would come of to reuse on another balancer.
I would buy another if needed.

Yukon, What model number did you use? They don't have an image shown for the R5504 that I could see, but that was looking like the one, I think.

The Isspro that I was looking into was a R5503. The pick-up system seems to be better and does not require calibration(I think) The Isspro websight does not have a picture but I have found them on other truck sights.

Another option is the OEM instrument panel with the tach.

What did the factory use for a pick-up or was it a mechanical tach...?

Not mechanical. It was for the gassers, and they use the crank sensor. You can use the gasser IPC, but you'll have to add the pick-up, either install a 94+ timing cover with the crank sensor, or use the vacuum pump location pulse generator (replaces the rear, cam driven pump, or a pump with the sensor, oil pump drive). If a vacuum pump isn't used/needed, the current oil pump drive can be replaced with the generator equipped drive (the best option, IMO).
