Just recently installed a Racor 645 Series fuel/water separating filter pre-lift pump and thought I'd post up some pics of my mounting solution.
Used a 1/4" x 4" x 10" piece of Aluminum plate, small block of 1/2" HDPE to gain space between filter body and bolt heads, two pieces of an old aluminum ski pole used as spacers to prevent aluminum plate from bowing inwards from pressure of the 5/16" mounting bolts.

This pic shows the two existing holes in the frame used for mounting bolts.

Yeah, I may go up a size when the time comes to replace the little guy. Did you add a filter pre-LP too or just decide to eliminate the stock filter and go with one big one?
What is the micron rating.
A 6.5 needs a filter that can pass 35++++ gallons an hour to feed the thing.
The fuel passes through in huge volume to cool the pump.
What is the flow rating on the 645 ???

I believe it's 45GPH and 10 Micron

straight from the tank to pump to filter,. stock fuel manager thingy is gone altogether,.
fuel pump is a step up from stock,http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e157/wtfuashols123/MVC-075S-1.jpg?t=1323563124

I went big also:

That's a 30 micron back by the tank. It's from an MD57/FM12 Volvo: http://www.unicat.net/ua/en/info/MD57-VolvoFM12.html
I chose it because it uses return fuel to heat the feed lines (great feature for Canadian winters, although it's not hooked up in that pic), a clear bowl with water drain and WIF, and a neato super fast hand priming pump for filter changes. Sucks it right up and out of the tank, primes the filter and gravity primes the raptor. Filter changes are easy peasy because of it. Pump has about a 4"-6" stroke. You turn the black lever to the left of the black knob and it pops out. Pump it and then lock it back int he stored position. Love it.
The filter is 14 inches tall but it came with the head so I saw no reason not to get some miles out of it. Good for 90 GPH. The replacement I have for it when it finally clogs up is a 12' tall Racor and will tuck the bowl neatly up under the bed side.
Only drawback is that since it's European, the inlet outlet lines are metric. A little harder to find and expensive when you do. Worth the hassle in my case. Takes a Racor replacement filter though.
I used a compression fitting as a temporary solution to connect it until I decide if I'm going to swap out the stock pickup to take the 1/2 push lock directly or just build a bigger tank with a sump. Well, gotta save the coin for that too.....
It's pre lift pump to also protect this a little better:

Stock FM is still in place and running the stock Stanadyne 5 micron filter (or 10 micron depending on who you talk to), although the inlet/outlet has been modified:

My scheme is the OEM tank sock keeps the great big bits in the tank, the 30 micron catches anything that would harm the Raptor 100 and the 5 micron protects the IP. The 1/2 feed is overkill for sure, but I've never had a problem with either getting enough fuel or air in the system. Even changing filters and such happens quick and easy and air is pretty much self purging. I just get a squirt out the air bleed when swapping filter and the rest takes care of itself. Ditto changing injectors, lines, re-priming an empty IP, etc. It's pretty much a painless exercise with any air issues now.
Oh yeah: love the pic with poochie wondering what you're doing!
