96 K2500 Transfer Case Switch?

Can the Transfer Case Switch that supplies power to the Front Axle Actuator be replaced without dropping the Transfer Case and where is said switch located? Also, does AC Delco offer the replacement switch and what is the correct p/n for a 96 K2500 Pickup 8600 GVWR? Rock Auto only lists a Dorman as available, a 2-pin p/n

I'm not sure about the right part ## but if you aren't sure you could purchase a "posi-lock" cable.... it installs without much work and when ya need 4x4 just pull the cable... mine would take forever to lock when the weather is cold, now I just pull the cable and go....

Ordered the TCS off eBay for $10 - will R&R it next week and see if I get my 4WD back.

Did you get the correct switch? I had to change cases and the one I have now uses a TCA4 (3 wire long stem #15693423) and the original case had a TCA26 (2wire short stem).

I am looking for a 2 wire long reach if they make such a thing.

I'm hoping I bought the right one as I got the 2-wire. It's supposed to be here today so guess I'll find out when I pull the old switch off :rolleyes:.

Found some more detailed info on nalleygmc.com - I searched based on a 96 K2500 and here's the p/n's that came up. Still looks like I wont know til I have the bugger off the truck as the info shows both p/n's working with either the 4L80E Auto Transmission or the 5 spd Manual but my bet is it's the 3-wire :confused:
