I have been told that the rims off a 1975-1999 chev 1ton P series or 2 wheel drive c series will fit my truck. 05 gmc 3500 4x4

Is this correct information?

Thanks

I talked to someone that told me the bolt pattern was the same but you need to grind the center hole a little larger. I have no personal experience with the P van wheels. I do have aluminum 19.5 wheels on my 2006 CC, Dually and I like them a lot. The tires are expensive and they will increase your stopping distance.

I would strongly advise against "grinding" out the center hole to make them fit, if the pattern is, in fact, the same. The wheels on the 3500 are hub-centric, which means the center bore is critical to proper location of the wheel(s).

If you find the backspace and bolt circle will work, have a machine shop rework the bores. They must be concentric.

What am I missing here???

1. The tires are expensive (compared to LT tires)

2. They will increase your stopping distance. Because they're HEAVY, and impart a significantly increased rotational mass on your brakes (and potentially wreaking havoc with your anti-lock brakes).

Rapidoxidation I think what you missed was the thread topic 19.5" rims.
GMC D-MAX nailed the reasons.

19.5" rims
spendy tires
increased stopping distance
big diameter aluminum rim risks grenading with any off road use
I guess what I'm missing is why you like them?

14 PR capacity.
100K+ mile service life (only spendy when you buy them).
Probably not the best choice for off road use. However, MD/HD aluminum wheels are forged, not cast. Cast wheels are the risk of grenading, off road. Forged aluminum is much more resilient than steel, in similar rated capacity. Typical 20" bling wheels are cast.

I'm looking for more mileage out the lt tires and that doesn't seem to be happening.

My truck is a highway truck only. I want to keep the cost as low as possible to replace the 16's on my truck with a better tire.
