Howdy
Can anyone tell me if the starter from my 1999 6.5 chevy will replace the 24 volt on my 1986 6.2 m1009?
I am converrting to a 12v system. A couple places list the same starter for both apps but I have also seen different numbers.
Thanks!

They are the same starter, just wound according to the voltage.

If you are switching from direct drive to gear reduction drive (old to new, respectively), you'll need the correct support bracket.

You can also have the original starter rebuilt locally, and specify the change to 12V. You'll end up with a MUCH better starter. Cost is usually quite a bit less than buying a reman from a parts house.
