Hello,

I have a 94 GMC 2500 with a 5 speed, it has a 6.2 short block with all the stock 6.5 turbo and computer controlled pump and other stuff on it. 6.5 heads also.

It has a manual boost control on it, how much boost will the old 6.2 short block take? Going to be pulling a 28ft pace enclosed trailer.

Is 13 to 14 psi to much?

If you go north of 10# the heat starts to kill the addes boost for no gain. Hope you have EGT gage. Got to watch your temps.

I have a exhaust temp gauge. I know it will take some fab work but would putting the Banks 6.2 turbocharger in place of the stock 6.5 turbo be a better setup? I mean put the Banks turbo on the 6.5 manifold.

12psi WOT pulling a trailer is ideal.

You must have some kind of chip in the ECM or the KD boost fooler to see those pressures w/o setting a code and getting defuel's.

Factory Electronic programming likes to see no more than 9

Really your 13-14 isn't going to hurt anything.

I'm pretty sure you will need an intercooler if you want to run above 10 psi for any amount of time. Others here I'm sure will jump in here and tell you.

It has a Heath chip in the computer. It was in there when I got the truck. I don't think its pulling fuel back, It will smoke black under a heavy load and 12 psi of boost.

I was thinking if the Banks turbo moves more air and is less restrictive on the hot side it would run better. The Banks don't have a waste gate though so no way to control boost. It made 10 psi under load in my old Suburban but I am sure my truck now is injecting more fuel.

I just put a new fuel filter in it and got a K&N kit to clean the air cleaner {cone type} and put some good fuel additive in it. Seems to be back to its old self again.

I guess I should hook to the big trailer now and see how it does. When I bought the trailer it was terrible trying to tow it even on level road pulling it home.

Heath chips are set for around 15psi boost IIRC.
