I put a set of 3:73's in the pickup, it made the fuel mileage worse on the 3600km trip between edmonton Alberta and gr4and valley ontario,.
So i took them out when i got home,. and the mileage is better again,..:D

this is the third round trip between home and alberta, the gross weight of truck n trailer was 10,460lbs,. the wee trailer i bought has 12" tires which i maxed out at 80 psi,.
the old 6.5 with its 5068 pump had no difficulty staying at speed thru the hills
it makes over 15psi boost,.
I bought this old truck 3-4? years ago for $1000 dollars for the motor,.and it just keeps going,.even the a/c works,.
I,ve grown pretty fond of it ,
The 3:70's are 46000lb eaton rears on KW 8 bag suspension,.for my old 900L

I don't think the 6.5 needs the 3.73 gears with the torgue it has, But that is also what I have, to much to swap being 4 x 4. I normally get 20 - 23 mpg ( Canadian) with mine, winter in 4x4, 13 - 15, lot's idle & short trips.
