what belt?

Anyone know the right belt to use when removing the vacum pump on a 98' 6.5. I would rather buy the right lenth belt the first time rather then experimenting.

Buy a belt for a 93 year.
Got mine at Auto Zone. They had a listing for the 95 with out Vaccum pump. Numbers were the same for listing on the 93.
AIRC it's 33-35mm shorter.

Thanks for the reply, I'll try that one but. I don't thank there the same because of the relocated alternator & a/c compressor.

My 1999 is the same as your truck. The belt that you need is Goodyear # 4060995. There is also another part number 6PK2525. I'm not sure how the Goodyear numbers cross over because I've only ever used Goodyear as they seem to be the best. I think I found them on the web for about $20 ea shipped.

Gates green stripe from Carquest...K060990 is the exact and PERFECT belt...I went through a few before finding it.

1998 GMC 6.5L Intercooled w/Turbo Master and w/o vacuum pump. A/C and Single alt.

I think the last numbers are the length in MM.
So 990 or 995, it seems that maybe there might be some difference in trucks as I tried the 995 and my tensioner was maxed out so I went with 990 which puts it in the middle of the adjustment range.

Thanks guys for all the replys. I learned a lot about belts yesterday! The last 3 numbers are the length and I couldn't get a 995mm belt on. A 1000 mm belt worked perfect for me, easy number to remember too.

Question from a guy who is too busy to look under the hood, Can you install a shorter belt w/o removing the vac pump and remove the pump at a later date? Just no time right now!

Well any way not on my 95. The Vac. pulley will be in the way.
Even with the Turbomaster I have yet to remove the Vac pump.
Once removed,then the shorter belt come into play for the belt does not have its back side around this pulley(Vac). Belt will travel from AC stright down to crank pulley.

Tryed the turbo master, had the problem with the a belt belt PN for no pump configuration .

When the marker was at the middle it was very close to jumping past center, IE no tension....
and A cheap belt lasted about a week......

did get a belt to work , but had to remove a pully to get it on , plus I thought I lost some MPG,
And I had to get a boost fooler to stop the " code "

Went back to the vacuum control ( per JD )
Installed new pump ( ouch 185 us )

Carry the old pump as spare for a back up ...
