I have a 2013 2500HD duramax and am trying to install my 5th wheel trailer wiring connector. The ownes manual states that the "heavy duty trailer pkg" harness has the fuses installed but need to connect the wire at the fuse box. Can anyone tell me where to connect the wire.
The only wire I found states "after market trailer wiring power" That wire is the battery supply wire in the wiring harness. There are two lugs in front of the fuse box, but they are hot all the time. Surely that is not where Chevrolet wants you to connect that wire.

The owners manual states that the fuses for the Battery feed and the trailer brake are installed in the underhood electrical center, but the wires are not connected.

Can anyone point me in the right direction before I rewire the whole thing myself?

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks
Denver Dale

Historically, GM has always used the B+ powered studs that you describe, but I also thought there was an extra 40 amp fuse somewhere that needed to be installed. Maybe this fuse is now pre installed.

Was your harness installed by the factory? Mine was and it was ready to go without hooking up anything. I just had to fish the wiring harness from under the truck.

Now that you mention it I'm pretty sure mine have always been ready to go. In fact I think it was my '05 and maybe the '07 that had the fuse and the trailer brake harness with the fuse taped to them. I think the last time I had to fish wires and connect may have been my '96???

Yes, you hook the supplied wires with ring terminals to the two posts you found on the fuse box. Yes, they are "hot" all the time.
