Just a quick question from a newbie here - what is the recommended method to keep the engine from turning over as I remove the nut from the harmonic balancer? Thanks much for your patience as I learn.

Man, its unbeleiveable that you would need to. I mean seriously, with an engine designed to make 21:1+ compression, you would hardly beleive that it would be necessary.

That said, if its a manual trans, just stick-er in gear and block the wheels for good measure (and make sure the key is off) smile.gif

If its an automatic, i usually remove the flywheel cover (however much that takes), and use a pair of vise-grips to grab the front and rear faces of the ring gear on the flexplate. Its pretty crude, but its always done me well.

Just my humble opinions,
Jake
