trans temp towing without winter front at 10f

My gross combined today was right at 26K# (8k truck, 3k trailer, 15K boat) and I was in a hurry after missing a day due to MLK and not being able to order oversize permits...

Observed 130-140f temps all day while running pretty hard. Only got the fan clutch to engage once, and it pulled the heat out pretty quick.

Terrible fuel mileage today however. That icy blast really costs you money, but man was it fun to run hard and have the truck give max power and stay coooooooooooooooooooooooool.

Is this referencing the P0087? If so, cooler fuel has a higher viscosity.

I received an email the other day about this. He was frustrated, and wanted a program change to disregard or modify the pressure window.

I wonder if bio-diesel has any effect?

I don't disregard or modify the pressure window. I adjust the programming to compensate for worn components so that the pressure maintains where it should and also improve the general performance of the limp mode so it's not such a lame duck if the issue persists.

My guess is that with winter temps we are now seeing resistance to flow issues at the fuel filter(s)

On the contrary - my remarks were that the truck performed flawlessly in the fuel delivery department, despite a heavy mountainous thrashing in frigid temps.

The only casualty was fuel mileage as a result of all the parasitic heat losses.

The transmission temps were 50f lower than I typically see in the summer time, and the same boat over the same route last summer set P00087 all day long.

Heat + higher mileage injectors = thin fuel = lower rail pressure = codes
