Lately iv been having to jump my truck off before I go to work. I have noticed that my volt gauge has been real low like 10 or 9 volts. And it seems that when it getts low like that the truck starts to run like crap. Im just curious if the alternator is going bad if it would cause the truck to run like crap.

First thing that I'd do is make sure that the battery and ground connections are all clean.

Can you put a voltmeter directly on the alternator? If the reading there is low, add a temporary ground and check again, just to be sure. This will help narrow down if the problem is the alt or the wiring.

I've had a few of those "lifetime warranties" the taking them back gets old. I prefer an idependent rebuilder myself.

This. I've come to take "lifetime warranty" as an indication of low quality any more.
