No low beam headlights 2008 Kodiak 4500

No low beams. Replaced both low beam bulbs. Have all bulbs lit on high beam selection. Have daytime running lights. But when you select low beams only just have the marker/tail lights and no head lamps. I also checked all fuses. aAnd the DRL relay is OK. I'm thinking the high low selector switch is bad? And not the main headlamp switch? Any Techs please chime in. Thanks

The low beam lights work through a relay that is located in a panel in the pass side dash below the air bag. There are two captured #10 bolts in the bottom edge of the panel. There is a fuse and relay location ilistration inside of the panel.

Thanks Denny, I checked those fuses. I think the relay is the DRL. Any other relays or idea's. Thanks

Do you have DLRs? Chances are you don't. If you don't change the DLR relay if your fuses are good and you should get both lows and DLRs. Let us know.

Further make sure that your parking brake is fully off for the DLRs to come on.

I seem to remember reading several posts about a wiring harness on the fender well chaffing on some kodiak models and weird lighting issues.

Might be worth a poke around the engine bay to look.....

Thanks I'll check the harness out. I do have DLR's and I did make sure the Ebrake is off. I just don't have the low beams. It's wierd. I think maybe it's the high low switch in turn signal lever. I guess I have to pull the wheel and r&r it. Thanks

I've looked at the wiring diagram and what I see is that if you have DLRs you are getting power to the low beams. The low beams get there power through the DLR relay. It almost has to be a bad relay.

Ok, I had swapped out the reverse relay with the DRL relay. They both use the same relay. I wonder if they could both be bad?

I have high beams and all four bulbs work for that. if you flip the lever to low beams they all go out. If you turn the headlight switch off and E brake off I have DRL's. ???????
If I turn the switch to parking/running lights I get the DRL's which look like low beams. ???? but if you rotate it to headlights it has no low beams. And only high beams if you flip the turn signal high low beam to high beam setting. ????

I think that the DLRs get there power through the dash sw when it is in the off position. That being said you have high beams and not lows. It is my opinion that the high/low stem sw is ok. The DLRs have to go through the low position on the stem sw. It is my opinion that the dash sw is the problem. just sayin.

Before you replace the sw make sure that was plugged in properly.

the few times I have seen this, the 5-pin relay for the headlights or low beams got switched somehow with a 4-pin relay...usually swapped with another relay next to it...weird things happen, much as you describe...

A pal of mine had the problem currently with his low beam he even tried doing the 4 pin relay swap, but still didn't work He just replaced the fuse and all went back to normal.
