Truck = 82 6.2 diesel

I just replaced my Alternator......started the truck, let it warm up while I was in the house.....started down the road and the glow plugs start cycling and will not stop.

It's dark out right now, so I haven't had a chance to see under the hood.

Any ideas? did they give me the wrong alternator???????

Thank you for your help

Might check that the temp plug didn't get knocked off, front of the head under the Alt...

The cylindrical 1982-84 glow plug controller receives a signal from the alternator that is used in-part to control cycles when the engine is running. So, it's possible the new alternator is the cause.

Or, it might be a good time to upgrade to the 1985-93 controller...

the alternator you put on needs a diode put in it to stop back feeding the glow plugs,.
