Howdy
Just found a new Mobile1 product at Walmart. 5-40 Mobile full synthetic. It has all the latest certifications for diesel. It is 19.96 for 5qrt. That puts it in the affordable class for me :D I have been paying 23.00 for a gallon of Delvac5-40 synthetic and then it is tough to find.

Do you think it is relabeled Delvac-1?

I wouldn't think that they would redevelop a great product. I would bet that it is Delvac1 MAYBE with some new additives ect....
I think Mobil finnally figured out that there is a market for a GOOD TRUE sythetic diesel oil that is easily found and reasonably priced. If you look at the label it says in great big letters "TRUCK and SUV oil" Took a real marketing Genius to figure that one!

Dicussion with Mobil customer service:
Howdy, is the new Truck&SUV oil the same as delvac1 sythetic???
No, but REAL close.
What is the difference?
Well, the delvac1 comes in gallons and bulk only and isn't readily available. Also we don't have the endorsment of variuose companies( GM FORD DODGE ect...) for Delvac1.
So pretty much the same oil???
No, but real close.
What is the difference?
Well, the delvac1 comes in gallons and bulk only..... ect ect ect
Take it for what it's worth, sounds like thats the story and they're stickin to it! :D

Been some oil talks lately, so I thought I would bring this back to the top....
I've heard the direction of lubes is to change additive packages because some additives contribute to pollution.
I've been including some Red STP in my oil changes to enhance the antiwear package that some oils are cutting back on.
I checked the Mobil MSDS info and additives between Delvac 1 5w-40 and this appear to be the same. Haven't looked at all the specs but so far they look almost identical.
