lube specialist stainless braided coolant lines

I had a bad alternator from pep boys, installed there.

bearings siezed, and serpentime locked around crank.

Smashed my tranny cooler, and nicked my oil cooler lines.

Pep boys replaced the tranny cooler hose, but they said just get a quote from the dealership for the lines. Dealership quoted 160 for one line and 150 to install. I gave it to pep boys, and they're gonna cut me a check..

So i figure i've got $300 to blw, i should get the stainless braided armor hoss from lube specialist.

How do you install em? They're ordered, but i need to know what tools i'll need other than sockets etc.

Basic wrenches is all. Unless you have a 4x4 then you will need a big socket to get the oil filter adapter off. I forget what size that is. I think its a 36mm but not sure.

The one on my engine (not removed by me until the major project) was so tight that I had to get a 3-foot pipe to extend my 1/2" ratchet handle. I'm not a small man, either (6'4", 245 lb.) Upon re-installation, the o-ring drag is significant, but my ratchet was enough.

This is also a good time to install new orings on the adapter when going back. A trick I have done many times on orings that like to leak is put a small amount of black RTV in the grove then bed the oring in it. Never leak again.

In the Aerospace Industry we use "petrolatum" aka
Petroleum jelly or Vaseline as some folks call it! I've never had an o-ring leak using it!

Don't mean to hijack this post... I am also looking at changing out the cooler lines on my truck. I assume you guys are removing the filter adapter on 4x4's to gain access or does the filter have to be permanantly remounted somehwere else?

You remove to get at the lines then put it back on. Some have relocated it.
