View Full Version : '07 Duramax California Emissions ?
Hi,
New forum member here. Have "quoted" The Diesel Page
several times. I'm almost to purchase an '07 DM with
California Emissions. Am I getting a weaker (than 49 states) motor ?
Some say "After 2005, all 50 states have same diesel emission standards"
What say ye ?
They are pretty much the same with the exception being the ECM programming particularly how they handle a DTC. This is easily enough brought to main stream and even better. ;)
2007 is a split model year with early being LBZ "Classic" and late being LMM new body. Some feel teh LBZ is teh moset desireable and I guess if you were to keep the exhaust/emissions stock I would agree. Once the exhaust and tuning are modified they are every bit as good as the LBZ.
I was hoping you would respond !
I didn't make clear truck's an LBZ,
and yes, I seeked it out to buy from it's reputation.
So, You think all LBZ's, California and 49 state are created equal ?
Thanks.

Yes. As John said, all the same, except for some CA emission programming. Power levels are the same, regardless of emission standard.

Physically yes with only differences being in the programming.
Actually the LB7 is the only one with true major hardware distinction.
Thanks, that's what I need to know.
Same hp @ 360, same torque @ 650, same driveability that is
no stumbling, balky habits like the California
gas motors sometimes had.
I have some friends warning me to stay away from Calif. LBZ's
(they really didn't know why, just "stay away". hahaha)
Good forum y'all have. I know Chevy SB's, know nutin' about diesels.
Had a 6.5T dumptruck, nightmare to repair.
Although I live in a large metro area, no one to
fix the 6.5 except local Chevy dealer and some kind of expensive.
