There's been a number of posts on this. Check the archives. The general consensus seems to be that electric fans don't move enough cfm to do the job.
I run dual electric fans on my rig for the last 5yrs. If you do city driving, stop and go, or real heavy loads close to gcvw limits I do not recommend going this way. If you are not running the hi flow cooling system and dual thermo stats, I don't recommend it. My rig does light towing 5k-6k lbs and 90% highway driving.
Dual electric fans for less engine noise and less rotating drag on the engine. The decision is yours to make. I hope that you have enough info to make a wise choice.
What about keeping the regular fan and just adding an electric pusher fan or two?

The duramax fan is lighter than the steel fan, thus less rorating mass, and it is quieter than the stock steel model.
