95 6.5 turbo. im having a starting problem and im down to replacing the IP. Does anyone know how to test or determine if the crankshaft sensor is bad, and would it not give a code if it was?

it will post a code if not working. The engine will still start without it, but you'll have a really long crank before it can. (like a 20 second crank).

John, thanks for responding. I was starting to think no one was going to help me.
I jus got home and ran the codes and found 13, 18, 19, 35, 47, 54, 78, 81, fuel shut off appears to be working (its clicking).
i did reset the codes, tried to start again and am not getting any codes now. ??

OK, well I went back to the drawing board and still kept coming up IP! a friend came by and refused to listen and tried my PMD on his trk, then tried my two spares on his trk. none worked so we put his spare on my trk and it runs!! Not sure at this point if something blew all three but its running now. Thanks John, i was about to buy a crankshaft sensor thinking all those codes were related to this sensor.
