View Full Version : Is the inside of the turbo housing suppposed to look like this?
Had the intake off and was wiping stuff down and I noticed this inside the housing. Is it supposed to be so jagged and is it just the result of the crappy casting process? I don't have any cracks on the outside of the housing and haven't noticed anything noise wise coming from it that was out of the ordinary.

Here's a couple snaps of a GM8 I have out in the garage for comparison:

Your casting looks a touch rougher, but not much that can't be accounted for by mass production variances....
Thanks for posting the pic of yours. Mine is definitely on the jagged side. The shape of the casting holes seem to Bethesda same. That is good news in my book. I have dropping lots of coin on the truck this week.

I've seen some pretty rough, and some pretty clean. Yours appears to be about in the middle somewhere. This is typical for sand cast aluminum. The after-polish depends on the polisher, mostly if it was before, or after his coffee break. You can polish it up if you want, and I know several who have, but I've never noticed any difference, before/after. There's probably some gain, but none anyone would notice, I think.
I may tackle it if my parts on order are delayed in getting to my door. I bet I've said it aleast a dozen times here but this place and the people are outstanding!! I am always so appreciative of the time and help people provide when I am faced with a project either planned or usually quite unannounced!
