Ive been noticing more oil leaking from down below and got it over our pit to take a look and notice the oil lines up by the block are leaking close to or where they come out of the block. My question is would it be easier to pull the front driveshaft to give me more room to tear into stuff ? Any adivce would be great .. thanks

Take the oil filter adapter out. No need to pull the drive shaft.

Fix it before the lines fail and take the engine with them...

Thanks for the advice it worked great . I think i dodged the bullet on this one . it turns out that the lines where only loose . thanks goodness . But i had to replace the adapter gasket it was brittle and broke when i was cleaning up the unit . I just put a new gasket from a Oil filter in it and it fit real nice. little bigger than the old one . Im going to try and get the right one and put in it unless thats close enough

My advice?

get rid of the oem lines and go to any of the aftermarket suppliers teflon braided lines.

They do away with the leaking quick connects and the possibility of the lines leaking/blowing off at the swage.

It's more common than you think and at highway speed will fry a set of main bearings faster than you can get the key turned off.

The quick connects are there to cut down on assembly time at the factory, not because they're durable. The OEM knew they could save a couple bucks and that they would last long enough to at least get the vehicle out of the warranty period.

I have a set of teflon braided lines on my truck. Well worth the money over OEM replacements...and they're pretty close in price to the OEM's IIRC.....maybe cheaper.

I may have to look into that at some point here . They seem to be doing fine now narry a drip to be seen since i tightened them up. that would seem to be much better than the factory stuff. Any recommendations on where to look ?

Well, not sure if any of these will break forum rules, but here goes:

PMDcable
Lubrication specialists
Heath diesel

Maybe kennedy diesel.

There might be more, I'm just not sure.

Some sell just the hoses, some want to sell you a hose and cooler kit.

Google should show up the web sites if you want to search for them.

I didn't include any links so hopefully the post is ok....
