I'm putting the Suburban back together finally. The oil pressure sending unit is mounted like this:

engine block
adapter
pipe extension
90 degree fitting
fitting with a small hole in it (to restrict flow)
pipe extension
sending unit

Here's a picture of the last three pieces of this assembly. The rest is still mounted on the engine.

Are all these pieces supposed to be there?

It wasn't OEM that way, but will work just fine. Easier access. That's a lot of coupling, so watch for leaks.

That's the problem, leaks.

What's the OEM way?

OEM is threaded straight into the block, or one extension at most.

I see on "flee bay" someone has a flexible hose that moves the sender to around the back of the intake for easy getting to... 30$, in the stock place it is a little hard to get to.

Since it just an oil pressure sender and not the more troublesome oil pressure/lift pump switch, I'd just by a quality replacement (20-30 bucks) and screw it right into the block port.

Then I'd forget it since it will probably outlast the vehicle...
