injector cleaner additives- worth it?

Out of curiosity- are fuel injector additives worth it and if so, which ones are "preferred". My first set of injectors lasted 175K miles and I've got nearly 95K on the replacements. I'm just trying to extend the life and put off an eventual $4K charge for another set installed. Should the injector additive be run double strength at first? Just curious has to what luck people have had with this stuff? Thanks guys.

The diesel fuel injection industry and GM do not recommend using any of the diesel fuel additives on the market today. GM approves of the use of a couple different brands, but does not recommend them. Numerous fleet fuel economy tests have been conducted through the years to determine the economics of treating diesel fuel. Those tests have shown that a commercial fuel additive that contains a cetane improver usually increases fuel economy enough to pay for the cost of treatment. Due to a much smaller sampling and sometimes significant changes in driving conditions over time, individuals have a harder time identifying a fuel economy increase. This means a fuel economy improvement has to be taken on faith, to some degree. Personally, I use a widely available commercial diesel fuel additive that advertises a range of properties, which include at a minimum: cetane booster, injector cleaner and additional fuel lubricity.

I run FPPF Total Power in all of my fuel. Absolutely mandatory in my opinion. As MP stated the slight gain in MPG generally offsets the cost of yteh additive and from there it's bonus...
