gear timing set

Hi, I'm interested in adding a gear timing set and replacing the chain. In my research, I've found that there are at least two models, one for electrically controlled injection pump, and one for the mechanically controlled injection pump.

I currently have an electrically controlled IP, but if/when the PMD fails, I will replace with mechanical injection. If I get the gear timing set for the electric IP, what effect will it have when I convert to mechanical?

You don't have to do anything with it, when switching from EFI to MFI. The reluctor and crank position sensor will just be going along for the ride. When switching from MFI to EFI, the sensor and reluctor have to be added, but you're not doing that. You could replace the sensor with a plug, but I wouldn't mess with it unless it leaks. Just secure the harness/connector out of the way.
