hypertech vs heath

Ive had the hypertech chip running since I bought the truck but I have been wondering if anyone has had any experence between the two. My egts never go past 900 or so and I can boost 14psi easily when I punch it. So do I reflash/maxi-torque or should I be happy with what I got?

Where is the pyro sender - at the turbo or in the down-tube?

Is 14 psi boost the max you can make, or can you sustain 14 psi at will, with spikes beyond the 15psi max of most gauges?

My 1997 (#2) Heath 2.0 chipped K3500 with 4.10 gearing can maintain 70mph (level) towing speeds with 14psi (constant) boost pressure, 750 degree (downtube) egts, and 205 degree water temps towing 14,500 lbs. This was proven last week and the trip was 350 miles in duration.

My gauge(isspro 30lb) is pre turbo, mounted on the manifold. I can make 14/15 max boost when im towing or just punching it. I think i stay around 9lbs when I tow on level roads. It will go to 14 when I hit a nice grade. My only problem now is tranny temps. They like to creep on me when I hit slow/stop&go traffic. I know I hit 220-240max when I towed my rail truck a few months ago. It was hot and I had the AC on but I was concerned.

Part of the question was asking about the pyro sender. It's location will make a difference in the numbers you will see. Others here report a 200 degree drop from pre to post turbo readings.

On gassers, the Hypertech programming only affects WOT - actually something like 75% throttle or greater. I don't know if their diesel programming is the same. If I were running an EFI 6.5, I'd definitely go with the Heath mods for the simple reason that lots of people here have done it and I don't recall a single complaint.

turboGMC.....Nice picture....but where is the dirt? Looks like you could eat of any part of that engine!! Guess I am just a bit jealous!

I didnt realize it was that clean either, now that I look at the pic again. I just hope my girlfriend stays off the gravel roads since shes been takin to work everyday :rolleyes:
