i got this bright idea to totally mess with all my 6.5td ecms.

please respond with comments and suggestions, those of you who have some knowledge about this stuff.....

99 tahoe: remove ecm w/2001 3500hd program and put in 98 k3500. replace with new heath ecm.

98 k3500: remove ecm and return as core to heath diesel and replace with 2001 3500hd program from tahoe.

(my understanding is that this will work fine with pass key security systems on these two trucks because of the years. correct?)

97 3500hd: replace stock ecm with bd ecm or or reprogram with 2000+ hd factory program

96 k2500hd: replace bd ecm with heath ecm. bd ecm goes into either 97 3500hd or 96 k3500. not sure which would be best...

96 k3500: replace stock ecm with bd ecm from 96 k2500hd or reprogram with 2000+ factory program

97 3500hd needs the additional power the most but also is by far the heaviest and tows/hauls the biggest loads. it could use more power but it needs to be safe and i don't know if the bd computer is the right choice. any feedback?

other alternative is to reprogram it with 2000+ hd program....will this program work with a non-pass key vehicle? is it the computer ecm or the program that makes the difference with the security system?

of course gauges and exhausts are already in place on the 96 k2500hd and 99 tahoe. truck getting the bd ecm will need them too.

am i making this too complicated or does this make sense?

thanks for any clarity
