Which model year is best

I presently have a 2002 silverado 2500HD/Duramax. If one was to trade up to a newer model year, which year (not new) would be the best option considering towing (hp and torque) and fuel mileage.
I think 2011 would be best, but those of you that have newer trucks may tell me I'm all wrong.

After owning an 02,06,07 and now a 2011 I would have to say 2011 year and up. But you have to figure what truck and price tag fits your needs. But I think the new one's are by far the best.

I have to agree with Cowboybill. Just starting my foray into these trucks with a 2001 2500HD GMC, I know it is basic and outdated, but getting one for 13.000.00, well maintained, and with 77,000 miles fit my budget and needs quite well.

I don't need all the bells and whistles but do plan on adding a backup camera. The crew cab and long bed make looking back into tight spots a real challenge. Perhaps I just need more time and experience.

Getting into one at that price point and condition made my day. I will seriously consider a newer one in the distant future.

I keep saying they just keep getting better. Yes there are some tradeoffs, but overall the trucks are much beefier. Swapping seats from my 2012 to my 02 or 07 is like going from the 02/07 back to the late 90's 6.5. The brake pedal feels soft, spongy, and almost flimsy etc. Granted some is new versus used, but my 2002 only had 84k on the clock and teh 07 around 60k so they are not worn out by any means. In fact, the 02 is set up much more solid than it was when new.

Fuel economy is the one thing that is lacking as wel as responsiveness to accelerator pedal input.

I love my 07 LBZ. It has 60k miles on it. I traded in my 01 lb7 for it.

The best is the one you can afford. The newer you go the more you get for our changing fuel and regulations. I have an '07 LBZ with 175,000 on it. Still nice driving down the road.
