I plan on replacing the timing chain and harmonic balancer on my truck, what else should I do while it's torn apart? Any words of advice for me with these jobs?

Water pump (with new OEM bolts).
Thermostat(s).
Coolant flush (flush with distilled water before, fill with coolant after).
Front main seal.
Crank Position Sensor. (It's old, and suspect of breakage, which may require removing everything again to replace it. Use OEM only - NO aftermarket junk.)
Crank pulley (rarely last much longer than the balancer).
Radiator refresh.
Belt/Hoses.
Belt tensioner.
Idler pulley(s).
If you plan on keeping the truck for a long time, consider:
Gear drive, vs. chain.
Fluid Dampr (balancer). They are considerably more costly than OEM parts, but have excellent performance and longevity qualities far beyond OEM. Both can be reused on an overhaul/replacement, if it becomes necessary later.
Your signature says water pump mod, does that include a quality fan clutch and different fan?
I used the Kennedy special calibration clutch and 20" fan and am very happy with it for the 4 bolt clutch style.
A spotlessly clean cooling stack is an annual maintenance item so the opportunity to clean that is at hand.
