We are upgrading our family vehicle. Having always driven diesel vehicles, I'd like to keep it that way with an 06 or 07 Classic truck. My wife on the other hand is leaning towards a tahoe/yukon but will be happy in anything roomier than our Jetta. We average 12-15000 miles/year. We farm and do have other 4x4 trucks. Can anyone testify to 2500hd CC, SB, Duramax as a family rig? Or is SUV more practical option? (Just the smell of gas gives me a headache!) I know, I know- Duramax Tahoe conversion = Win Win Win, right? Appreciate any input.

My two cents: If you are looking for a vehicle just to haul the family around and don't expect to tow anything substantial, then I think the gasser would be cheaper to buy and operate over the long haul. On the other hand, if you have a sizable RV that you frequently use, a crew cab diesel truck would be desirable.
