injection timing question

I have GMTDscan and was trying to dxn a loss of power and black smoke condition above 2200rpm (turned out to be air filter). But my question was there are 2 injection timing measurements. one labled Injection timing and I was getting a reading of 8.9 degrees at idle the other reading was Actual injection pump timing and that was reading 32.12 degrees at idle at the same time. What is the difference?
