OK guy,
I am looking at a diesel 95 Tahoe. Are there ECMs for the OBD1 units of that era that can help make power like the later years (ie '99s)?
I realize that it would probably need the cooling mods if it made too much power, but first I would just like to know if it can make more power with the older ECM.

In a short answer, yes! Here's what I've done with my 95 Suburban so far... (Click here!) (http://forum.thedieselpage.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=006650).

Good Day!

You wanna make power with that truck, get with ronniejoe. With the possible exception of a 3 1/2" exhaust (I think he's got a 3"), his Suburban is what GM could have/should have sold all of us. He's making GREAT power - pulls his 32' camper as fast as he wants to go. :D

Blessings!

I've been running the BD Race chip in my 95 Yukon for over 100,000 miles and very satisfied with it. I replaced the downpipe, but no big exhaust yet nor intercooler - I did add the DSG gears to it and upgraded the cooling to 97+. I've hit 13-14 lbs boost in higher elevations and around 12 at 600 ft above seal level.

I've always run boost, trans temp and pyrometer gauges. I've never pushed the pyro beyond 1000F pre-turbo.

I don't recall the claims made by BD, but seat of the pants feels significant. If the factory power is 190, I'm sure I gained at least 20-30 HP.
