99 Savana 6.5

I'm thinking of buying a 1999 Savana with a 6.5 in it. Could anyone on this forum give me the pros & cons of this motor. It has 153+k on it.

I have a good 6.2 in my limo & up til now no problems ( I probably stitched myself up saying that ). It is a 89 model mechanical .

So any info will be appreciated.

I would approach this on a "Condition" basis.
If the truck is in good condition overall body wise, then look over such things as the color of the tranny oil, (Brown and nasty smelling, trouble in the making) move on to the engine, (Fuel or oil leaks)

Run the engine until warm and especially in the Hot weather your having, see if there is any signs of coolant overflow. Make sure that the radiator hose (top) is not extremely hard (indications of a compression leak internally)

Check with the oil fill removed and the engine idling to see if there is excessive blowby.

Check the turbo for signs of oil leakage

Is the check engine light on ??

How easy does the engine start cold??

This should be a DS4 injected rig, has the PMD been relocated from the IP ??

Depending on the Price $$$$ thats being asked, it might be a great buy.

At 153K this rig could have some good miles left in it before it needs major work.
