Will a 5.7 serpentine system, off a 95 1500 pu fit on a 1985 6.2 diesel ?

No, the 6.2 parts will not interchange with the 5.7 and vise versa.

You need to use the serp drive parts from the 6.5.

Depending on where your alternator is mounted and the AC pump if its has one you can use the 92-2000 6.5 serp drive stuff.

It will all fit the 6.2 just fine.

Keep in mind that the fan/clutch and the water pump and such stuff must also accompany the serp drive.

The 6.2 with V belt drive rotates the water pump the opposite direction and the fan too.

All the goodies from the 6.5 must be used on your 6.2

No other engine family will interchange anything with these engines.

The 6.2/6.5 are all by themselves.

If the engine is in a GMT400 truck it should.
The old style Burbs, Blazers and Crew cabs that continued to 1991 all had V belt systems on the diesel.

The Serp drive setups however can be retro fitted onto the oldr trucks

The Serp drive was not installed on the Old style rigs as it this would have required a retool on the assembly line.

The Older style trucks that had the gassers did have the serp drive though, but the diesel did not get it.

Its strange though as several other updates were included in the old body style trucks.

The newer style oil pans and the one piece rear main was used across the board.

When did the newer style oil pans and one piece rear main become get the switch?

My uncle asked if I had a one or two piece rear main. And I have no idea which one I'd have on either ride.

GMT is the assembly line tooling series. GMT400 includes GM light trucks produced from January 1987 to about July 1998. GMT800 from there to December 2006 There are some overlapping times during almost all transitions with some chassis models (depending on when a plant "retools"), but that's basically it. The changes are usually fairly obvious, as the body changes are most noticeable.
