shift cable question

hey guys i have 98 gmc 3500 auto 4x4 168,000 miles. i pulled the
transmission out and took to the shop for a complete rebuild.
re- installed the transmission had a problem with the shift cable.
i bought and installed a new oem shift cable. when i adjust the
cable in park it wont shift down to 1st gear, will only go to 2.
if i adjust the cable in 1st gear it will only shift up to reverse
and not go all the way to park. the tranny shop cant tell me
the problem. they said nothing was changed on transmission.
anyone had this problem before. can someone point me in the
right direction. thanks for any help

I had a n electric trailer brake controller wiring get wound up in the firewall to cab side.I bought a new GM cable to install. I used AllData instructions after I tired of the GM parts info. You need to remove the Left seat or if a bench the whole seat. Follow instructions & don't damage the cable. Pay close attention how the cable is routed originally.
