Yep! I am running Michelin 235/85/16 LTX M/S2 tires. I am not running spacers and I have approximately 1/2" of clearance between the sidewalls. I am also not towing anymore so I am not really concerned with the close clearances between the rear duals. When checking my speedo against road construction radar units, I am about 1 mph faster than the speedo indicates, but most guys who check their speed against a GPS say the speedo is actually more accurate than with stock tire size.
I have had two sets of 235/85/16 tires on my 06 DRW. I did need to put a 1/4" spacer in to keep the tires from squatting and touching on the bottom when I tow my 38 foot 5th wheel. There will not be a problem and no need for a spacer if you haul light loads. Additionally, the wheel nuts will not make the last two turns because of the spacer. I checked them often and they never came loose; but I was never comfortable with them not being completely on the wheel studs.
I have converted my truck to 235/70/19.5" and like them very much. It looks like the 19.5 tires are going to be good for well over 100k miles. The 235/16 tires lasted 55k to 60k miles and the 215/16 lasted about 40k miles.
Good Luck
John
