I know this has been covered extensively on the website, but I am looking for real world experiences before spending money on a potentially inaccurate tachometer solution.
What is the best (accuracy vs. cost) approach to retrofitting a 6.5L tachometer into a 1994 vehicle not originally equipped with one?
I bought a cluster for my 92, it was plug and play. Any cluster with tach from a 92-94 style will work.
However, I found out that my alternator pulley was changed and was the wrong size, giving a ~10% error.
The proper pulley size and part number is listed here somewhere, it is around $10.
You can find them on ebay, I paid $30 shipped.

I installed a Stewart Warner tach on a 6.2L. It has a 3 5/8" face, and mag pickup off the flywheel teeth. Meaning very acurate. IIRC it was around $200.
Do a search under the 6.2 forumn, I thing I covered this with part #s.
