Fuel prices

They have done it again with high prices, but here in PA. diesel is now about .20 cents less per gallon than gas. It was the other way around for years. But holy smoke you poor guys on the west coast are really high. :(

Don't complain too much guys, its about $.78 a liter in my part of the world, that works out to around $3.00 a gallon and unleaded gas is about 94.9 a liter, just about $4.00 a gallon. I'm starting to ride my bicycle even more now :D

Currently around here diesel is about 45 cents a gallon cheaper than gasoline. I'm sure that won't last long, though. :rolleyes:

In the Detroit area, about the best I see is $1.759 a gallon. Unleaded is around $1.889.

In my area, diesel is running $2.549 (today) and has been about 20 cents more than unleaded regular for about 3 months - OUCH! What a ripoff! Pretty much neutralizes one advantage of diesel over gas. :mad:

Today Regular 87 gas is $2.08 give or take a couple pennies. BTW, I'm in Bay City.

Last night diesel was $1.63. I need to fill up soon before it goes up. I saw as high as $1.69 at the I-75 expressway exits.

I was in Ann Arbor last weekend and diesel was $1.70 or so there.

It always amazes me how much the price varies - even within a 10 mile strip I see a variance of over $.15 a gallon in both gas and diesel. When adding 30-40 gallons at a time - a 15-20 cent per gallon difference really adds up.

I may need to venture up North a little to fill up pretty soon.... Most places around me are closer to $1.90 a gallon for diesel.

In Vineland, NJ at a Gulf ststion on Delsea Drive, diesel fuel is $1.599. Yesterday it was $1.569. This is best price in this area. Other stations are $1.619 up to $1.679.

Ouch. I thought I had it bad at $1.89-$1.79 for Hess 45 cetane diesel. I have a fleet East Coast(equipped with tracter truck pumps) down the road about 4 miles. I get 40 cetane for about $1.59. Regular unleaded is up to about $1.83 nominal? Too bad my commute makes the truck and it's factory 4:10's not a good choice.

So, the question is - we manufacture the stuff here on the West Coast. The Midwest has to transport the stuff in. Why are we so much more expensive?

Why more expensive on the west coast? the midwest/east coast for most major cities etc, they have 7-8 manufactures/suppliers vs the west coast having 3-4 suppliers. The puget sound has only 3 IIRC, and for awhile one refinery was shut down. So supply and demand, forced supply and demand if one will.

THe west coast has always been a major profit center for the oil companies.

With that, I have seen diesel from 217 yesterday to 221 at the same, what was the lowest price diesel I had seen to 2.35, reg unleaded about .02 more, mid +.10 and premium another .10 above those ave's.

Costing us that need fuel for work plenty. I used to spend less than 500 for fuel for trucks and landscape equipment, now over 900. Landlord does land clearing, at 500 gals a day, you figure out how much it has hit him! Lots!

Here, in Alberta (Texas North) :D , the prices right now are:

Regular: U.S.$2.42 a U.S. gallon
Premium: U.S.$2.86 a U.S. gallon
Diesel : U.S.$1.69 a U.S. gallon

The gas prices have gone up about .50 to .60 cents in the last couple of weeks. In 1997, when I got my truck, the diesel was about .40 a gallon higher than gas. It's been less than gas since mid 1998.

Was in Minnesota last week, saw reg. unl gas go from 1.89 Sunday night, and it was 2.05 Monday morning. Diesel was around 1.70 on Rt-212.
Here in Pennsylvania, Diesel is 1.75, and reg. unl was 1.97, a .22 cent difference. Last winter at the same station it .25 cents less for reg. unl. gas.

I guess if we were traveling out to Missoula, Mt. this year, I'd pay about $1000.00 for fuel alone. :eek:

Hi guys, diesel here in long beach ca. has been around 2.45, on the way home from work i saw a place that has it for 2.14 and the other day i filled up and paid 2.45 at chevron station but was in a rush so i had fill there, any way i'm now test driving my 6.5 td on my 84 and it sure feels strong and smooth, but i feel a little vibration on the engine compartment don't know if it is transmission or flywheel just tryin to figure this. What will happen if the switch on the acceleretator never got engaged?

I kind of have my truck more glued together now and checking up on it, feels strong turbo whisttles and even more if ladys are in front or by mi side,finally got a filter for it!

Brian; Im with you and feel there is much truth to what you say. Fuel $ in the mighty MO is a thrifty 1.57 . Sounds to be the cheapest so far.

Going over to New Jersey today to see Howie E., so I'll fill up there. Jersey's in the high 1.50's, about .20 cents less than this side of the river. :rolleyes:

Brain, I know it is the tax, but I we lower the fuel tax, the tax on other things goes up :(

In the end we all have to pay the bill for running the country.

Self-Service Credit Card pumps automatically stop at $50 so many times you do not even get a complete fill-up anymore . . .
