View Full Version : 6.2 TD Oil in exhaust pipe
I have an 82 blazer with a 6.2 and banks turbo. The truck started smoking (White bluish) and I found oil leaking from my muffler to down pipe coupler. Is there a seal in the turbo that can leak, or is it from the engine itself. Truck runs great, not noticing any lack in power or rough running (aside from initial startup)

Yes the turbo seals can and do leak indicating a rebuild is in order.
I'd remove the intake boot off the turbo and check the turbo by hand. Check for slack in the shaft (in and out) and side to side. Some side-to-side is normal, the wheel should not contact the housing without a lot of force. If it's really loose there is a good indication that the bearings are going bad which is usually what wipes out the oil seals front and back. The turbo can leak oil into the intake stream and also out the exhaust.

Thanks, Ill check the turbo play and see if there's and indication of needing a rebuild. Are they had to rebuild? Where's the best place to find parts?
