Sourcing injectors and cost

Well.. I've used the search function and still cannot make up my mind. My Suburban is over due for a glow plug and injector swap, given it has 182,000 and change on her. (think they are original plugs ad injectors)

I have a set of glow plugs but am having a hard time deciding who to go with for the injectors. Really, I'm looking for the best deal on new Bosch units. I am really apprehensive going with someone I'm not familiar with or have heard good things about via the people here. I realize you do get what you pay for and sometimes that is the follow up support when you are in a jam.

I've looked locally.... no go, checked out, heath, US diesel and they all seem in the ballpark price wise. Does anybody have a supplier they trust and get a significant break in price?

Also, does anybody bench test these even though they are new prior to going out? Now that I would pay for.

At this point, I can't really afford to have my rig down for several days, so I thought I would buy a fresh set then eventually have my originals rebuilt to have on the shelf or in my tool box I carry.

Why not pick up a set of used ones and have them rebuilt? Recking yard should go for about core price.

I use a local injection shop and the last set I had done was under $200 for the set.

"Diesel Fuel injection service" In Portland Oregon

They clean them well, replace the nozzles and any other critical parts and then set all the pop pressures.
I always specify that the POP be set as close to the same on all the injectors to keep cylinder to cylinder timing the same. (helps prevent undo stress on the crank and such.

If you have a local shop that can do this, I would certainly check them out

OK, I did some poking around

One of these outfits has got to be close to you and likely will rebuild your injectors or a set that you take in.

These are Stanadyne shops and do pumps, so without a doubt, they can do the injectors

We reman the OE Bosch units here using Bosch nozzles in either std or High Flow/High pop config. These injectors don't really quit, they just degrade over time so keeping a spare set is not necessary. As for down time, we keep plenty of cores on hand.

If you dont have a shop thats close by (one of the ones in that list)

If it were me, I would have John whip up a set of stock replacements and get them on a stage heading out.

The set I had done locally fior DAHoooley were set to POP at 2000 PSI

They work well for good cold starts, good mileage and the thing does not rattle like a can of rocks.

IMHO-- Dont waste the $$$ for a spare set to rattle around in the tool box.

These are delicate, subject to contamination and other ills when just floating around.

Injectors are a long term thing.

You should get 100K miles or more from a fresh set of squirts.
