Looking for more power

I am looking to get more power and torque out of my 6.5 does any one know if you can port the heads on the engine to do this?

Port-matching the intake and exhaust manifolds is easy and worthwhile, but a lot of work on in/ex passages inside the heads would not likely yield much for the effort. This is so because of turbocharging. A non-turbo engine benefits more from cylinder head flow work, but a turbo (boost pressure) can overcome a lot. Still, if you have the tools and the time, it can't hurt.... ;)

To get more HP and torque I would recommend a power chip from one of the major players such as John Kennedy or Bill Heath

Add a good free flowing 3-1/2 or 4 inch exhaust and a turbo master waste gate control.

If you go this way, get a set of gauges on the thing too, Pyro and boost.

Dont run the boost more than 12-13 PSI unless you are going to install a charge cooler of some sort.

Max pyro readings of 1000F pre turbo (Beyond this, you enter MELTVILLE)

Stay clear of the internet sellers that advertise the 40-60 HP special injectors.

A good quality stock type injector and an injection pump thats in good order is all thats needed.

Changing the turbo charger is an option if you are really serious.

Now, all this said, dont get the idea that your going to be out running with the new Powerstrokes and DMAX rigs and scareing them, Not gonna happen.

A good running 6.5 with thing working right, can make in the vicinity of 300 HP and live.

Trying to go beyond the 300 mark is going to be tough.

The 6.5 is just not going to do it and live very long.

With a good chip, a fresh set of squirts, big exhaust and a little tweaking, the 6.5 can run pretty good.

As Jim mentioned, Porting and matching can all be done, but the biggy with these engines is getting more FUEL into the beast.

The programing in the computer chip is very conservative on these engines.

One issue that most folks dont understand about the 6.5 is that it will make power, but that the cooling system will not handle the extra load.
The radiators in these trucks plus the engines ability to reject the heat is just not great enough.

A more free flowing turbo will help greatly by reducing the retained heat and lower the drive side pressures.

Even the best Turbo that GM used on these engines is sorely lacking.

The torturous path that the exhaust has getting out of the turbo housing really limits things.
