View Full Version : Belt application with no vacuum pump
After my latest alternator episode, I thought I would pick up a serpentine belt that I could bypass the vacuum pump in a pinch in order to get where I was coming or going from..
Do I need to ask for the 93 6.5 belt? Could some one please confirm this.
Thanks

I asked for a 93 belt and it was still too long. So I got a 92 belt and it fit nicely.

One can remove parts from the VP till the only moving part is the pulley & use the stock belt.. Otherwise with the VP functioning as an idler If The Vac pump assembly is removed you will have to buy a new shorter belt. This was posted here or at the PLACE.
Just did mine, Gates 061000 I think it is 100 & 5/8 inches.

Yeah I did the one on the 1996 with the newer accessories than the 92-95's have. I have the belt box at the shop that gives away the size. I'll post it tonite when I get home and get to digging around in the shop. Time to clean up so I can start another project in there! Race season's about to start and I ain't dun $hit...

I just did this a week ago. The regular belt for the 96 6.5 is 101". I asked the guy at Advanced Auto to find the stock belt for the truck, then find one exactly like it, 1 inch shorter. I threw out the package, so I don't have the part number, but it works perfectly.
