Does anyone know of any high volume oil pumps for a 6.5?
My Avant reman has a new stock pump but it only puts out about 15 psi at hot idle, 35+ at speed, new digital gauge,15w40 oil, I would like a tad more pressure at idle as I can't believe that the valve train is oiled adequately at idle with only 15 psi.
I have searched most mfgrs web sites but can't find a listing for a diesel only small and big blocks..........Merle

5 to 7 psi at idle is sufficient pressure, Merle, according to GM engineering.
Your engine is in good shape to be making 15psi.

The '98 pump should be improved due the piston-spray oiling system.

Check with GM parts for different part number from '95 to '98 -up

I replaced the oil pump in my 95 because the original was failing. I replaced it with the 98+ oil pump. Its a bigger oil pump that what was in the engine, physically larger. I get 70psi cold oil pressure at 1500 RPM, at idle its 60 on the factory gauge. When hot it will idle 25psi and jump back up to 55 psi when I accelerate. The 25 psi at idle is accurite, gauge inside the cab reads the same as my mechanical gauge.

Just go to the stealer and order an oil pump for a 98 model C3500 6.5TD. You won't find them at Autozone.
